Nowhere to Roll

One more day in the year, and I'm still sitting here, with a big empty feeling inside
I'd get up for a spell, but there's nothing to tell, so I'll just sit back down and abide
if I played out a part, or I had some sweetheart, I would tell you how I done right or wrong
if I got in a fight, or I saw some great sight, I'd have something here to put in a song

but I ain't had no luck there lately, and I won't tell you no lie
now the weeks roll on by and I can't even get high
I'm a rolling stone with nowhere to roll

once in a while I still have to smile, when I step back and see the joke of it all
it's all just a play when I see it this way, and sorrow is just as well as having a ball

I look back on my life, when I still had a wife, and I seemed to be doing alright
but I was restless at heart, and I soon had to part, like the sunset I'm gone every night
I looked deep in my soul, but I fell in a hole, I'm still looking for some way to get free
if I knew how to fly, I would take to the sky, and I'd fly me straight out to the sea

but I ain't had no luck there lately, and I won't tell you no lie
now the weeks roll on by and I can't even get high
I'm a rolling stone with nowhere to roll
I'm a rolling stone with nowhere to roll
