Dan Whitaker and The Shinebenders

Dan Whitaker & The Shinebenders play their own version of country music that blends classic country, western swing, hillbilly, outlaw and feature Whitaker's original country and western material. The combo also plays a variety of country classics ranging from the 1940's period of Hank Williams and Ernest Tubb through the 50's and 60's, with artists such as George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, Charlie Pride, Bob Dylan, and into the 70's outlaw era of Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt, The Allman Brothers, and Gram Parsons. And yes, this means they won't play Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, or Big & Rich no matter how many times you ask.

DWSB has been playing frequently in the Chicago area and the surrounding cities over the past four years, including noted shows at Arlington Park and The Chicago Country Music Festival. Their last CD, Shinebender, is available via most on-line retailers such as Amazon.com, and also for download from Itunes. Your Final Ride, Dan Whitaker's first country release, is also available at these sites.

In addition to his country band, Dan Whitaker heads an original rock band called The Gyps. His past band endeavors include Great Plains Gypsies (1996-2007), June Bug Massacre (1987-1993), A Horse Named Bill (1993-1995), Western Grand (2000-2004) and Athletic (2000-2003).
