Dan Whitaker & The Shinebenders play their own version of country music that blends classic country, western swing, hillbilly, and outlaw. The band features original songs from Whitaker's country and western catalog along with a variety of country classics by artists such as Hank Williams, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Johnny Paycheck and Gram Parsons.DWSB has been playing frequently in the Chicago area and the surrounding cities since 2004 at bars, nightclubs, festivals and BBQs. Their CD, Shinebender, is available via most on-line retailers such as Amazon.com, and also for download from Itunes. In addition to his country band, Dan Whitaker heads an original rock band called The Gyps. He also is plays in the bands Western Grand and Athletic.
